Guide-on posts make it easy to load your boat onto your trailer and back your trailer down the ramp. They attach to the rear of your trailer and extend out of the water, providing visual targets to center the boat between during loading.

Features:

  • Guideposts provide a visual target on your trailer to help you load and unload your boat
    • Extend out of the water to help you center your boat while loading
    • Assist you in backing your trailer down the boat ramp
  • 16-Gauge, pre-galvanized steel posts are strong and durable
  • White PVC pipes slide over steel posts so you can see your submerged trailer
  • Simple installation on rear crossmember of trailer frame with included hardware - no drilling required
    • Adjusts out to 19" from trailer
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Application: trailer frames up to 3" wide x 4-1/4" tall
    • For frames up to 5-1/4" tall, 2 extra-long U-bolt kits (CE11416 - sold separately) are required
  • Overall height: 60"
  • Steel post dimensions: 39-7/8" tall x 1-1/2" wide
  • PVC Pipe diameter: 2-3/8"
  • Quantity: 2 boat guide-ons

Note: Check with your state Department of Transportation for restrictions regarding maximum trailer width.

Guide Your Boat Into and Out of the Water with Ease

When your boat trailer has been backed down the ramp and is partially submerged, these 60" tall guideposts that are mounted on the rear corners of the frame will stick out of the water, giving you 2 highly visible targets to guide your boat between for loading. The PVC pipes also provide a visual aid to help you back your boat trailer down the ramp when you're unloading and loading your boat.

Installation

The posts are simple to install. Slide the PVC pipes over the pre-galvanized steel support posts. Then mount the posts on the top or below the trailer frame, as close to the rear corners as possible. Adjust the posts so that the distance between each post and your boat is less than 1".

Pre-Galvanized Steel

Pre-galvanized steel parts are stamped from a sheet of steel after it has already been galvanized. The edges of pre-galvanized parts often lose their zinc coating during the stamping process. Because of the thinness of the coating (less than 1 mil) and the fact that the edges remain exposed, pre-galvanized parts can begin to oxidize and rust quickly, so it's recommended that they be primed and painted.

Very pleased so far (two outings) with our new trailer guides! We put these on our dual Trailmaster trailer for our Starcraft 221 I/O. I was a bit worried that they wouldn't fit at first, but they *just* squeaked on the rearmost portion of the beam. Installation was very straightforward (nice video you guys put together on this!), the construction is solid, and it was easy enough to tweak the width to get them to a good point for our boat.

Our two recoveries this year have gone very well - much better than last year, our "virgin" season - as it helps to have the visual guide, as well as the posts to keep the rear of the boat from drifting off the center of the trailer. My spouse really likes these, and we are cautiously optimistic that this will make our boat recoveries much less stressful!

by:

Guide posts are helpful both for easier sighting the trailer as I'm backing down the launch ramp, and, more importantly, guiding and centering the boat back onto the trailer. Well worth the small investment.

by:

Look to be good quality and strong, made in USA which is a major plus. Only complaint is the manufacturer needs to apply something to end of steel tubing to prevent damage to the PVC poles during shipping

Works great, I am able to get my 18 foot Bayliner centered on trailer by myself and just pull out of water no problem. I float boat into position and pull it up last few feet with winch, if you are under power and hit hard they may bend, but perfect for my needs.

by:

Great guides for out 21’ Precision sailboat. Helps to assure that we align the keel with the channel in the trailer, Good Product. If I bought them again Id buy the lighted caps.

by:

Running into issues with the install. Unfortunately your customer service tech was not too helpful, courteous but not very helpful.

I have a Triton trailer, tandem axle, sidesteps in front & behind wheel fender. Doesn't appear to be a good place for the install unless half way up the boat.

Any recommendations on the install? Previous customers with Triton trailers? I don't prefer "cutting" a hole or notch into my fender as the tech recommended.

Thanks for your response.

Anthony,Thank you for your review.I have contacted CE smith and the only way to install these guide-ons on your Triton is to drill two holes through the rear step so the mounting bracket can sit on top of the step and the u-bolts will go around the frame. It cant go under the step because it is too wide and the post would be too far from the boat. I hope this helps.

by:

As advertised. Easy install

A year later and item working as advertised. Keeps boat centered while loading on trailer in windy days.

by:

Perfect fitment, great quality and on time shipping! Keep up the great work Etrailer

by:

Quick delivery on the trailer guides, easy installation on my galvanized trailer, although the product fit perfectly, I was not sure if the steel parts were galvanized so I decided to clear coat all the parts. Not a deal breaker looks good.

Overall pleased but had one issue with one guide bar collapsing where it bends, after a reinforcement was added seems to be holding up. Needs to be thicker material in that area.

by:

Product shipped was exactly as described. Easy to install and all necessary parts included. Arrived as promised. Instructions could have been a little clearer, but that could just be me. I've ordered from etrailer before never disappointed. Installed on my 20' sailboat at close to midship. etrailer is my first choice.

They are excellent. Im thinking about another set for my little run about. You guys, and gals are still my first choice.

by:

Great product overall.

The "L" pipes
the poles slide on and attach to the trailer are longer on the vertical side, which is great as they provide more support for the boat as it is loaded vs. solely the plastic guide tubes.

Would have given 5 stars if there were two SKUs, one for standard u-bolts and one for extended u-bolts to attach the L pipes to the trailer.

I needed the extended version since the trailer beam was taller and had to buy separately for added cost and time since I did not realize I needed extended u-bolts until I started the install.

by:

Haven't tried these out yet but did get them installed. The PVC tube was extremely hard to get on. I had to beat it with a hammer and piece of wood and the slit didn't line up properly so that was a bummer. No way to take it off it's so tight. It actually cut into the PVC on the 4 corners so it will have to be cut off if ever taken off. That is disappointing. We will see how it works when I go to the lake but I'm assuming it will work as it should.

3/24/2018

They work but mine hit a tree branch and bend them down, I can bend them back up but they just seem to move around a lot. Not real solid but I still like them.

by:

I installed the guides on my pontoon boat trailer to help center the boat on the trailer bunks when taking the boat out of the water. I have been very pleased with how helpful the guides have accomplished that task.

by:

GREAT product. Installed it and first time out it was worth the investment. got the boat on the trailer first shot and these are sturdy as well. strongly recommend this system for any trailered boat

The product after a year it has worked flawlessly. I enclosed some pictures for you. Use them if you would like for promotional purposes or design.

by:

After reading other reviews I wasn't sure about the height...but it turns out 60" was perfect for me. I mounted them below the frame and I have a taller hull than the picture, so mine don't stick up quite that tall. They are super easy to install, and provide great targeting lines for whoever is trailering the boat. I am now rethinking the light kit on top, just because other vehicles on the road have a tendency not to look down at the trailer lights, so they don't see the turn signals as well. I included a picture taken the day they were installed (not great quality).

by:

I am very pleased. The guides arrived very quickly -like two days -and were easy to install.
I have ordered everything for my used trailer including spare tire, trailer hitch receiver and the ball mount. The ball mount gave me an 8in rise which is what I needed for my Toyota Tacoma.
Etrailer follows up and does a great job.

by:

The extra width of this model worked beautifully for my sailboat. I have a cat boat with a wide beam and needed the wider brackets to extend for the middle width of the boat. The guide on’s worked perfectly. Without them loading was a pain and took multiple times loading. The posts gave me a once and for all perfect load. Very pleased!

by:

I recieved the guide-ons very quickly. Installing them is very easy out of the box. It took me longer because I added a 1 1/2" od aluminum pipe between the 2 guides for added stability. The pipe slid into the square tubing and they are rock solid now. We took the boat out for the first time with the guide-ons and it helps with loading the boat greatly. I could not see my trailer behind my truck before without the boat on it. Now backing down the ramp is a breeze to retrieve the boat. I could have gone with the shorter poles but I'm glad I didn't. The more visibility the better.

by:

I received exactly what I needed. I made my order over the phone and the service was excellent. Delivery was fast. I'm very satisfied.

by:

easy install on my pontoon boat trailer. Really like the taller guide-ons - they stickup above the side rails of the pontoon boat. Makes it easier to guide the pontoon boat onto the trailer

by:

Great product, easy install and extremely fast delivery!

by:

This appears a high quality product and eTrailer provided super fast shipping.

by:

If your looking for top quality this is the one. Glad I chose 60" in white for good visibility. Placed them one foot out and stood on them, 200+ lbs. Extremely well made. Made in USA makes the difference.

by:

worked great and easy to install in existing configuration as my old ones rusted out. works perfect.

Curtis

  • Boat Trailer Guide-On Recommendation for Larson Hull
For a Larson hull of that size I recommend the CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons for Boat Trailers # CE27640 because they are 60" tall, which should give you plenty of visibility if you have to submerge your trailer a decent amount in order to get your boat onto your trailer. These guide-ons will fit trailer frames that are up to 3" wide x 4-1/4" tall, though if your frame is up to 5-1/4" tall you can still use these guide-ons by adding the CE Smith Extra-Long U-Bolt Kit for Boat Trailer Guide-Ons...

  • Will the CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons Fit a Trailer with Step Platforms
I do have options for you to use guide-ons like the CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons part # CE27640 on your boat trailer but as I am sure you can see, the step platforms are going to interfere with the u-bolts which wrap around the frame and are used to hold the brackets for the guide-ons. Therefore, you can either remove them, weld the brackets to the frame which would then eliminate the need for u-bolts, or you can just move the guide-ons up further on the trailer but this would mean they...

  • Recommended CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons For Boat Trailer
The guide-ons you choose for your boat and trailer really depends on the height of your boat.
